Amazing Hearing: Oticon Hearing Aids

Hearing aids are necessary when the body has lost its ability to function “normally”. The transmission of sound has been altered, and usually decreased in intensity. The hair cells located in the inner ear become damaged and the sound transmission is altered. The brain is not receiving the full spectrum of speech and therefore comprehension is decreased. A person with hearing loss has to work harder to understand the message while a normal functioning hearing person does so effortlessly.

Oticon Real

Wind & Handling Stabilizer

Oticon Real reduces wind and handling noise

Wind can often cause disruptions and unpleasant sounds in hearing aids. Handling sounds, such as hands, hair, glasses, or a facemask touching the hearing aid microphones, also creates unpleasant sound. With Oticon Real, we protect against uncomfortable wind and handling noise, so patients can stay sharp in the real world.

SuddenSound Stabilizer

Balance sudden sounds instantly and precisely

Disruptive sounds are constantly occurring all around us. Soft, sudden sounds – like tapping on a keyboard – and loud, sudden sounds – like slamming a door – demand a very different type of processing compared to other types of sound. The new SuddenSound Stabilizer in Oticon Real makes these sounds available to the brain while reducing disruption, allowing your patient to carry on with whatever they are doing with less distraction.

Oticon More

Oticon is the world’s second largest hearing aid manufacturer. The Oticon More hearing aid was created to work more like how the brain works and puts a new perspective in hearing care. This advancement represents Oticon’s next step in BrainHearing™ technology.

The new Oticon More is the world’s first hearing aid that uses a fully trained Deep Neural Network (DNN) embedded on the new Polaris chip. The DNN uses 12 million real-life stored sounds to provide a built-in intelligence for improved sound detail and clarity. Oticon’s MoreSound Intelligence™ allows for precise analysis and balancing of the full sound scene while MoreSound Amplifier™ provides rapid high-resolution amplification that naturally follows changes in the sound scene. With twice the computation capacity and speed as before, Oticon More improves speech understanding with less listening effort and the ability to remember more.

In addition, the More is a Made for iPhone hearing aid and is compatible with the new Android protocol for Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA). This allows for direct streaming from iPhone, iPad®, iPod touch®, and eligible Android devices.

The Oticon More is currently available as a discreet, rechargeable receiver-in-the-canal (RIC) hearing aid. Convenient, easy-to-use, and reliable, the lithium-ion rechargeable hearing aid means no disposable batteries and takes only three hours to give a full day’s use.

Oticon Own

The Oticon Own (In-The-Ear or ITE) hearing aids are customized to each individual user, offering “ultimate comfort and confidence to enjoy an active lifestyle,” with an on-board Deep Neural Network* (DNN) embedded on the new Polaris chip. The DNN uses 12 million real life stored sounds to provide a built-in intelligence for improved sound detail and clarity. Oticon’s most advanced performance in discreet custom hearing aids with the superior power, speed, and features of the groundbreaking Polaris™ platform. With twice the computation capacity and speed as before, Oticon Own improves speech understanding with less listening effort and the ability to remember more.

Many Oticon Own styles are made for iPhone and compatible Android devices, offering direct high-quality streaming, so that you can enjoy your favorite music as well as take calls through their hearing aids. Select iPhone and iPad users can enjoy hands-free communication thanks to Apple support for bi-directional hearing aids Bluetooth Low Energy Technology is introduced from the Oticon OWN ITC style upwards, making the Oticon Own ITC “the smallest, fully featured ITC hearing aid in the Oticon Portfolio.”

The Oticon Own is available in five styles and five colors, delivering a complete custom product.

Have you heard of Inverse Directionality?

Unique to Oticon, it’s a completely different way to think about directionality and noise management as we know it.

Conventional directional technology provides a beam focused on directional speech while reducing other sounds outside the beam, closing down a patient’s environment in an unnatural way. In 2016, Oticon first introduced a new and innovative 360 approach – allowing users access to all sounds around them. To maximize speech understanding and minimize noise within this approach, we needed to challenge traditional beamforming and noise reduction strategies.

Inverse directionality combats noise by being directional on the noise itself, not speech, reducing disturbance of any noise coming from a specific location and leaving multiple speech sources clear and other sounds available. This precise and balanced approach works independently in 24 channels to maintain clarity. Oticon’s onboard Deep Neural Network further clears up any remaining diffuse noise in the environment! Flexibility to personalize these directional and diffuse settings can be found on the MoreSound Intelligence screen in Genie.

This advanced signal processing technology supports the brain by providing the necessary cues for your patients to engage optimally and continues to serve today as the foundation to the superior sound quality that can only be found in Oticon hearing instruments, including our latest introductions of Oticon Own and Oticon Real. This means your patients can function seamlessly in any environment, without needing to be reliant on a smartphone app or manual programs!

Widex CROS

Oticon CROS

Oticon CROS gives you access to speech and sounds all around you, opening up your world to a more natural comfortable listening experience. Oticon CROS is also the world’s first solution for single-sided deafness that allows you to watch TV or listen to music while carrying on a conversation with someone positioned on your poorer ear.

Outstanding sound quality, even in noisy environments

How is that possible? Oticon CROS is the only solution on the market that gives you 360° access to sound, thanks to its revolutionary feature – OpenSound Navigator™. Advanced technology constantly analyzes sounds around you, preserving what is important and reducing noise before it is sent wirelessly to your better ear. Oticon CROS works ultra-fast to support how your brain naturally makes sense of sound, making it easier to hear what is important to you.

Enjoy conversations and wireless streaming at the same time!

When you have hearing loss in one ear, it can be challenging to directly stream sound and carry on a conversation. Now you can do both at the same time. Innovative technology in Oticon CROS makes it the world’s first CROS solution allowing you to connect to external audio streams, like music or TV, while carrying on a conversation with someone positioned on your poorer ear side. In fact, Oticon CROS is proven to deliver a 50% average improvement in how aware you are of speech while streaming sound from your poorer ear side.*
