Types of Hearing Aids & Styles

Today’s hearing aids are smaller, more powerful, and more comfortable than ever before. During your consultation, our audiologists will help you choose the hearing aid model that best fits your hearing needs, lifestyle, and preferences.

Hearing Aid Styles

The three main styles of hearing aids:

Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)

The most popular hearing aid style available today. RIC devices are lightweight, discreet, and comfortable for everyday use — making them the preferred choice for the majority of hearing aid wearers. Over 80% of hearing aid users choose this style.

In-the-Ear (ITE / ITC / CIC)

These custom hearing aids are molded specifically for your ear canal, creating a personalized and comfortable fit. The ITE, ITC, and CIC styles vary in size, with CIC (Completely-in-Canal) being the most discreet option.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

A durable option often recommended for severe hearing loss, children, or individuals who experience excessive earwax buildup. The BTE sits behind the ear and delivers sound through a tube connected to an ear mold. If earwax accumulation is affecting your hearing aid performance, our clinic also provides professional earwax removal services to help restore clear sound.
